May is National Foster Care Month

Foster parents change generations by serving today!
fp dinner 0506

The picture to the right is from our recent "Foster Parent Appreciation" night. The folks you see in this picture, and others that you can't see, are our heroes! They are champions for Children! There are over 518,000 children in the foster care system in the United States and Kern County is home to over 3,200 of these children. Each day in Kern County many loving, compassionate and generous individuals and families serve foster children, who at no fault of their own, have been removed from their families. These folks, like the Agosto's who have ministered to over 90 foster children, are the heroes we call foster parents.

Royal Family Kids Camp Update

Creating positive memories for foster children ...
RFKC motorcycle ride

The 12th Annual Royal Family Kids Camp will take place June 12-16, 2006 in Frazier Woods. The RFKC team had their last training and now are busy preparing for the wonderful children we serve. Below are some updates regarding this years camp and opportunities for you to engage. PRAYER - Teams have been busy praying for the children and the staff of RFKC. Join us in praying for freedom for children from shame, neglect, pain and suffering. Call or email to join the prayer team for the ministry. Without prayer ... nothing good happens! FUNDING - The picture to the left is from the Motorcycle Ride for Kids fundraiser held at Canyon Hills. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and bikers over $3,000.00 was raised to send kids to camp! Thanks! See the link to the left for more pictures. VOLUNTEERS - We are in need of volunteers to serve for RFKC. If you have time or talent to exercise please call us at the Covenant offices. Thanks to all who faithfully serve both here and at RFKC year in and year out. The backbone of the ministry is the quality staff, counselors and other volunteers who sacrifice for training and service to reach abused and neglected children. Thanks. OTHER NEEDS - We can use your help with the remaining finances for RFKC 2006. We are close to our goal of $26,000.00 but not their yet. You can log on to the website and give online or send a check to the Covenant office made payable to RFKC. Also, We are soliciting children's jackets and beach towels for RFKC. Many children come to camp without towels or jackets and this is always a need. RFKC 2006 is going to be an amazing experience for the children ... help us make a difference and create positive memories.

Aaron's Story of Sacrifice and "Getting It"

How a little boy "caught on" to ministry
starfish

Aaron has been attending Royal Family Kids Camp since he was 6 years old. When we invited Aaron back to camp we were surprised but blessed by his reply. Kim had made a call to Aaron's foster mother and extended the invitation to return to RFKC. Aaron's mom reported that he was very excited but wanted to think about it. What? You see, Aaron had been adopted since we last saw him and he had different thoughts about RFKC now that he was adopted. When Aaron "gor back" to his mom he stated, "Mom, I really want to go to camp but I am not going to." His mom pushed for an explanation and Aaron replied, "Mom, I am adopted now and I have a good family. I have ridden horses. I have had birthday parities. I have a bunch of people that love me. So I don't think I should go to camp. If I don't go another kid that needs it more than me can go!" Wow ... Aaron had caught the ministry of RFKC. People sacrifice and serve so others less fortunate can be blessed. Thanks Aaron for teaching us again what is means to serve! Aaron's sacrifice has proven that RFKC is contagious and the fact that it was caught by a 9 year old makes it all the better!
